Three stadiums were opened in 2000. The Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners, and Detroit Tigers all got new ballparks between 1999 and 2001. Despite the franchise being founded in 1993, the Miami Marlins built a new ballpark in 2012 with the capacity decreasing by around 10,000.
With franchises able to generate revenue from non-baseball events, there are bound to be more new ballparks opened in the next few years. MLB stadiums have become more than a sporting venue, frequently hosting concerts and other shows to boost coffers outside of home games.
