MLB uniforms don’t change as often as their NBA counterparts, but there have been some significant alterations to MLB uniforms in recent years. Patches appearing on sleeves have been one of the most notable changes.

When bettors have been tuning into games to find out whether their bet on Toronto Blue Jays odds at the BetMGM sportsbook has won, they might have noticed a surprising green patch on the Jays’ uniforms.

What Does the Blue Jays’ Green Uniform Patch Mean?

The green patch on the Blue Jays’ uniform is a sponsor logo for TD Bank. Introduced in July 2023, it features on the sleeve of every Blue Jays jersey.

Toronto was the 14th team to introduce a sponsorship patch after they were approved in the most recent CBA.

Why Did the Blue Jays Change Their Uniform?

The Jays have changed their uniforms several times throughout their history. In 2024, their newest uniform was unveiled, which was the City Connect “Night Mode,” featuring an illustration of Toronto’s iconic skyline.

Before the 2025 season, minor alterations were made to jerseys across Major League Baseball after concerns about the quality of player jerseys during the 2024 campaign.

What Are the Patches on MLB Uniforms?

Patches on MLB uniforms are for a variety of reasons. Team sponsors are on sleeves, league partners can be found on the back of jerseys, and other patches are put on jerseys to acknowledge anniversaries, recognize special occasions, and honour people who have passed away.

For example, teams wore a special patch for Lou Gehrig Day, and the San Francisco Giants had a patch with the number 24 to commemorate Willie Mays.
