Cody Ponce was one of the Toronto Blue Jays’ marquee offseason additions alongside Dylan Cease, Tyler Rogers, and Kazuma Okamoto.

Ponce wasn’t expected to be among the baseball betting favourites for the AL Cy Young at the BetMGM online sportsbook, but he had a key role to play in fortifying the rotation.

What Injury Does Cody Ponce Have?

Ponce has an ACL sprain in his right knee.

ACL injuries are a common occurrence in most sports and have a long recovery timeline, even when it’s only a sprain.

What Happened to Cody Ponce?

Trying to field a grounder in his first start of the season, Ponce collapsed to the ground in pain.

He didn’t suffer a full tear of the ACL, so surgery wasn’t guaranteed, but a few days after the injury, the Blue Jays confirmed Ponce would undergo surgery to fix the knee.

How Long is Cody Ponce Out?

Ponce is out for at least six months.

It is very unlikely he will be able to return this season unless the Jays make another deep playoff run.
