- The Oakland Coliseum is the biggest baseball stadium in the world.
- Two of the six largest stadiums are located outside the United States.
- Only three ballparks worldwide have a capacity above 49,000.
There are some spectacular baseball stadiums around the world. A packed crowd adds extra tension to big moments, whether that’s the introduction of a flame-throwing closer or a crucial plate appearance in the late innings. The differences between ballparks are also something to consider when looking at the MLB betting markets.
The stadium is something I look into at making baseball betting picks. Home advantage can be a difference-maker for certain teams, particularly when it comes to the postseason.
What’s the Biggest Baseball Stadium in the World?
Team | League | Capacity |
Oakland Athletics | MLB | 56,782 |
Los Angeles Dodgers | MLB | 56,000 |
Industriales | Cuban National Series | 55,000 |
Arizona Diamondbacks | MLB | 48,405 |
Seattle Mariners | MLB | 47,929 |
Hanshin Tigers | NPB | 47,400 |
Colorado Rockies | MLB | 46,897 |
New York Yankees | MLB | 46,537 |
Los Angeles Angels | MLB | 45,517 |
Baltimore Orioles | MLB | 44,970 |
St. Louis Cardinals | MLB | 44,383 |
Yomiuri Giants | NPB | 43,500 |
The Oakland Coliseum is the biggest baseball stadium in the world. Despite its massive capacity, the Oakland Athletics have had woeful attendance figures for a long time.
The Estadio Latinoamericano, home to the Industriales in Cuba, is the third-largest stadium in the world and the biggest baseball stadium outside the USA. The Industriales are part of Cuba’s fiercest baseball rivalry with Santiago de Cuba, naturally drawing sizeable crowds to the Estadio Latinoamericano.
Two Japanese ballparks make the top 12: the Tokyo Dome and Koshien Stadium. The Tokyo Dome has hosted the most baseball games of any stadium outside North America. Koshien Stadium, home of the Hanshin Tigers, is an iconic venue in NPB. It has become recognizable for its ivy on the outfield wall, similar to Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Stadium capacities have generally decreased over the years. Over 92,000 people attended Games 3, 4, and 5 of the 1959 World Series between the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The home-field regular-season attendance record has stood since 1993.
Of course, some ballparks used in the MLB International Series would feature on this list if they were the home of a professional team. Attendances at London Stadium have been more than 50,000, with almost 60,000 people cramming into the venue for the inaugural series in 2019.
The Tokyo Dome also had 55,000 fans per game for their MLB games in 2000 and 2004. Sydney Cricket Ground, used by the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014, has a larger capacity than any stadium mentioned here.
