  • Juan Guzmán has thrown the most wild pitches in Blue Jays history.
  • Guzmán led the majors in wild pitches in 1993 and 1994.
  • Jim Clancy and Guzmán are the only Jays pitchers with more than 56 wild pitches.

Wild pitches are inevitable, even for the sport’s control artists. The odd pitch is going to go far enough off-course for the pitcher to be hit with a wild pitch.

Most of the Toronto Blue Jays pitchers with the most wild pitches had excellent careers with the franchise. Some were involved in playoff runs, while others had to endure losing seasons when Blue Jays odds to win the division were long.

Who Has Thrown the Most Wild Pitches in Blue Jays History?

Juan Guzmán has thrown the most wild pitches in Blue Jays history with 88.

Guzmán and Jim Clancy are the only Jays to have thrown more than 56 wild pitches. Roy Halladay, who was among the AL Cy Young favourites in baseball odds for most of his time in Toronto, only had 43 wild pitches. Halladay never had more than six wild pitches in a season.

Guzmán, in contrast, had 26 in 1993 and 13 in 1994. Clancy had five seasons with double-digit wild pitches.

Ricky Romero had a short MLB career, playing less than five seasons, but he still managed to record 42 wild pitches, including 18 in the 2010 campaign.
