Longest Hitting Streak in Blue Jays History

  • Shawn Green has the longest hitting streak as a Blue Jay.
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has had two 22-game hitting streaks.
  • Edwin Encarnacion is the most recent Jay to have a hitting streak over 25 games.

There have been 16 hitting streaks of 20 games or longer in Toronto Blue Jays history. A hitting streak requires a combination of contact skills, a hot hitter, and a good amount of fortune.

It doesn’t matter what the latest Blue Jays odds to win the AL East are. A hitting streak is all about individual performance and doesn’t necessarily coincide with the team being competitive.

Being a sportsbook favourite for AL MVP is no guarantee a player will produce a lengthy hitting streak. Even great contact hitters can go a whole career without a 20-game hitting streak.

Bo Bichette, for instance, hasn’t had a hitting streak longer than 13 games despite leading the American League in hits on two occasions.

Which Blue Jays Player Has the Longest Hitting Streak?

Shawn Green has the longest hitting streak in Blue Jays history. Green recorded a hit in 28 consecutive games from June 29, 1999, to July 31, 1999.

This was part of a spectacular season for Green. He finished the 1999 regular season with 6.4 bWAR and became a candidate for AL MVP in the baseball betting markets.

In 2015, Edwin Encarnación became the third Blue Jay – and the first in 16 years – to have a hitting streak of exactly 26 games.

Shannon Stewart achieved the feat in 1999, with his streak starting the day after Green’s ended. John Olerud set the then-franchise record with a 26-game hitting streak during his spectacular 1993 season.
