- Mike Piazza has the most home runs by a catcher in MLB history.
- Only four catchers have hit more than 350 home runs.
- Gary Carter and Lance Parrish are tied for fifth place with 324 homers apiece.
I won’t usually be keen to back a catcher to hit a home run in my baseball parlays. Most catchers don’t provide a great deal of offensive value, but there are inevitably exceptions.
Some catchers manage to hit for power even with the arduous job of blocking, framing, and throwing from behind the plate.

Which Catcher Has the Most Home Runs in MLB History?
Mike Piazza has the most home runs of a catcher in MLB history with 427. Piazza is the only catcher to break the 400 threshold, and only three others – Johnny Bench, Carlton Fisk, and Yogi Berra – are within 100 of his tally.
A two-time MVP runner-up during his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Piazza was often among the favourites for the award in the MLB betting markets and was one of baseball’s best catchers for the best part of a decade.
He had nine seasons with 30 or more big flies, leading to an average of 41 home runs per 162 games between 1993 and 2002.
