The unique characteristics of each ballpark are one of the factors to consider when making baseball betting decisions. It would be a shame if teams began to share ballparks, given that it would remove some variety from the big leagues. 

There is also the minor issue of the number of home games each team plays. With a 162-game regular season and multi-game series, it would be a scheduling nightmare trying to fit all the games in. 

Have Any MLB Teams Shared a Stadium in the Past?

Yes, the New York Yankees shared Shea Stadium with the New York Mets in 1974 and 1975. The Yankees cohabited with their city rivals while Yankee Stadium was being renovated.

In 1975, Shea Stadium made history. It was the only year ever that two baseball teams and two football teams shared a stadium, with the New York Giants and New York Jets joining the Mets and Yankees. 

Unsurprisingly, there were plenty of scheduling clashes between the four teams once September arrived. Fortunately, neither the Mets nor Yankees reached the playoffs, allowing the Giants and Jets to play their home games at Shea Stadium as scheduled.
