Of the Toronto Blue Jays’ rookie pitchers in 2026, all the focus is on one man. Trey Yesavage, the AL Rookie of the Year favourite in the latest baseball odds at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

However, he isn’t the only rookie arm that could have an impact for the Jays in 2026.

Toronto also has a pair of prospects recovering from injury lay-offs and a former fourth-round pick ready to contribute after arriving on a minor-league deal.

Toronto Blue Jays Rookie Pitchers

Trey Yesavage

Yesavage only made three regular-season starts in 2025, but he shone in the postseason with 39 strikeouts in 27.1 innings. He enters the 2026 campaign as a fringe Cy Young contender and perhaps the most exciting young pitcher in the sport.

From an over-the-top arm slot, Yesavage has a fastball with outrageous ride and a splitter that will generate a sky-high whiff rate in 2026. A serviceable slider makes him a true three-pitch guy.

Jake Bloss

Jake Bloss arrived in the Yusei Kikuchi trade a couple of years ago. He was considered key rotation depth for the Jays before the 2025 season, but suffered a UCL injury and underwent Tommy John surgery after only a handful of starts.

The timing of Bloss’ return to competitive action is yet to be confirmed. It’ll be fascinating to see how he fares when he’s back on the mound, as he projects as a mid-rotation arm with a good fastball, two strong breaking pitches, and impressive command.

Bloss might not seem like a player that will have a major impact on Toronto’s MLB odds, but he could sneakily be important if the Jays suffer pitching injuries.

Michael Plassmeyer

Michael Plassmeyer was signed on a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training in December. It’s a signing that went under the radar, but could provide some important depth for the Jays’ pitching staff.

Plassmeyer hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2023 and has spent the last two seasons in Triple-A with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Texas Rangers’ affiliates. He had a solid end to the 2025 season with the Round Rock Express and could be used as a multi-inning reliever or starter if called up to the big leagues.

Ricky Tiedemann

Ricky Tiedemann should finally make his big-league debut in 2026. The hard-throwing left-hander missed all of 2025 and most of 2024 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, but he’s healthy and ready to prove he deserves a spot on the Blue Jays’ roster.

A mid-to-high 90s fastball is accompanied by good secondary pitches in a changeup and slider. Command has been a concern at points, but if he can throw strikes, Tiedemann still has ace upside.
