5 Best Blue Jays Seasons Ever, Ranked

The best Toronto Blue Jays seasons ever didn’t necessarily start with short Blue Jays odds to win the World Series. A great season isn’t just about regular-season dominance. The quality of postseason performance has to be taken into account, along with spectacular individual achievements. 

Below, I have ranked the five best seasons in Blue Jays history. These aren’t exclusively the seasons with the most wins, but they do happen to be five of the six winningest seasons since the Jays were formed.

5. 2015 (93-69)

The 2015 season ended in an agonizing ALCS loss to the Kansas City Royals, but it’s still one of the best Blue Jays seasons. 

Toronto won 93 games behind AL MVP Josh Donaldson, finishing six games clear atop the AL East. Their Pythagorean win-loss record was a whopping 102-60, with Marco Estrada leading one of the best rotations in baseball. 

Along with Donaldson’s great year, José Bautista and Edwin Encarnación posted 145 and 148 OPS+ marks, respectively. 

4. 1985 (99-62)

The 1985 season remains the highest win total the Jays have posted. Winning 99 games ensured the Jays won the division, but it’s probably best remembered for postseason heartbreak.

Holding a 3-1 lead over the Royals in the ALCS, Toronto was one win away from its first World Series appearance. Kansas City won three straight to eliminate the Jays. It was only the fifth time in MLB history that a team had blown a 3-1 lead. 

3. 2025 (94-68)

Before opening day of the 2025 campaign, Blue Jays World Series odds didn’t make them favourites for the Fall Classic. What followed was a remarkable season in which the Jays defied expectations, winning the AL East and getting within a few outs of the World Series. 

The success was based on a low-strikeout offence, which led the majors in batting average. Despite rotation struggles in the second half, the Jays pitched well enough in the playoffs to see off the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners before falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.

2. 1993 (95-67)

The second of the Blue Jays’ back-to-back titles is the second-best season in franchise history. Defending a title is impressive, but Toronto only won 95 games in 1993 and had holes in the roster with weak spots in the lineups and a far from formidable pitching staff.

Winning consecutive titles is a rare feat in MLB. That alone deserves credit, but it’s also notable that the Jays had a 91-win Pythagorean mark. 

1.1992, 96-66

The feeling of winning the first title in franchise history cannot be replicated. That’s what the Blue Jays achieved in 1992 after winning 96 regular-season games and defeating the Oakland Athletics in the ALCS.

Toronto faced a highly talented Atlanta Braves team, featuring John Smoltz, David Justice, and Tom Glavine, in the Fall Classic. Atlanta won Game 1, but the Jays took a commanding lead with wins in Games 2, 3, and 4 before wrapping up the series in Game 6.
