Wrexham All-Time Greatest Players
1. Tommy Bamford
Tommy Bamford is Wrexham’s all-time leading scorer with 207 goals. He scored 44 league goals in 1933-34, which remains a club record in a single season.
His historic 1933-34 campaign earned a move to Manchester United, where he scored 53 goals in 98 appearances.
2. Arfon Griffiths
Arfon Griffiths’ 592 league appearances are the most by any player in Wrexham’s history. Griffiths also starred in midfield during a successful period for the club, with several European Cup Winners’ Cup appearances and a promotion in 1970.
Towards the end of his playing career, Griffiths had a mixed stint as manager of the Robins. He was the first manager to lead the club into the Second Division, but ultimately left the club after a dispute with the board.
3. Carlos Edwards
An inductee into the Wrexham Hall of Fame, Carlos Edwards made 29 of his 97 international appearances for Trinidad and Tobago while playing for Wrexham.
Edwards was a member of the side that won the Football League Trophy in 2004-05, and he was integral in the promotion campaign of 2002-03. The statistics only tell part of the story with the Trinidadian, who lit up the Racecourse Ground with his pace and skill down the flank.
4. Paul Mullin
Named the club’s Player of the Year in 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24, Paul Mullin also was the leading scorer for Wrexham in each of those seasons. Previously a member of Liverpool’s academy, Mullin joined Wrexham from Cambridge United in 2001 and immediately became their most important player.
Starring in the first two of three consecutive promotions, Mullin fell out of favour during the 2024-25 season and only scored five goals.
5. Gareth Davies
Spending over a decade-and-a-half with Wrexham, Gareth Davies became a fan favourite in the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s.
Davies was named the club’s Player of the Season in 1977-78. He has made the second-most appearances for Wrexham behind Griffiths.
6. Bert Goode
Bert Goode has the second-most goals in Wrexham history, having found the net 148 times in 275 matches.
He had a prolific record in the Welsh Cup, scoring 32 goals in 35 appearances.
7. Darren Ferguson
Son of former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Darren Ferguson began his career playing for his father’s team, but ended up with Wrexham from 1999 to 2007.
The Scot was a reliable performer for the Welsh club. An industrious central midfielder, he was a pivotal figure during the 2002-03 promotion campaign and the Football League Trophy win two seasons later.
