The 2026 IPL auction is packed with superstars. Several franchises released big-name players either to free up money or as part of roster rebuilding.

Each team has different needs heading into this year’s auction, ranging from batting depth to an overseas quick bowler.

The outcome of the auction will inevitably have an impact on IPL futures in BetMGM’s cricket betting market.

1. Andre Russell

Even at 37, Andre Russell is a great T20 player. Capable of bowling at high pace and one of the most powerful hitters in the sport, Russell is set for another big payday in the IPL auction.

The Chennai Super Kings are a potential landing spot after they released Sam Curran. The Lucknow Super Giants could also do with another all-rounder.

2. Glenn Maxwell

An underwhelming 2025 season for the Punjab Kings led to Glenn Maxwell’s release.

The Australian all-rounder makes sense for the Gujarat Titans, Chennai, or the Super Giants. There’s likely to be a bidding war.

3. Sam Curran

Sam Curran is a highly valuable T20 player. He can bat anywhere in the top seven, with experience up the order and success as a finisher.

With the ball, his variations have caused problems for plenty of highly skilled batters. Punjab could move for Curran as a replacement for Maxwell.

4. Anrich Nortje

Back from injury and in South Africa’s squad for the T20 series with India, Anrich Nortje is one of the best fast bowlers available in the 2026 IPL auction.

Nortje takes wickets in the powerplay, can provide control in the middle overs, and has experience at the death. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are a good fit.

5. Adam Zampa

The Rajasthan Royals are expected to pursue Adam Zampa after letting several spinners leave during the offseason. Sunrisers Hyderabad should also be in the mix for Zampa.

The Australian has 31 wickets and an 8.38 economy in the IPL.

6. Lungi Ngidi

Released by Bengaluru, Lungi Ngidi is a versatile white-ball bowler. A threat with the new ball and with the variations to keep batters quiet at the death, it’s surprising he’s played only two IPL matches since 2021.

RCB are an obvious fit. The Delhi Capitals might show interest as they look for a backup to Mitchell Starc.

7. Ben Duckett

Ben Duckett turned down the opportunity to play in the IPL last year. It made sense to focus on Test cricket with series against India and Australia, but Duckett will surely be tempted by the riches of the IPL this time around.

Arguably the best all-format opener in the world, Duckett would fill a need for the Delhi Capitals or the Kolkata Knight Riders.

8. Wanindu Hasaranga

Wanindu Hasarang underwhelmed for the Royals last season, leading to his release. A hard-hitting batter and a talented leg spinner, Hasaranga is going to be a man in demand in the auction.

He’s been taking wickets in white-ball cricket for Sri Lanka. KKR and Lucknow could benefit from Hasaranga’s mix of middle over wickets and power-hitting.

9. Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock has scored 3,309 runs in the IPL at a strike rate of 134.02. After waving goodbye to a pair of top-order batters, the Capitals are expected to make an offer for de Kock.

The dynamic wicketkeeper/batter has been in good form for South Africa with plenty of runs in Pakistan.

10. Rachin Ravindra

One of the best young batters in world cricket, Rachin Ravindra is yet to be properly utilized as an all-rounder in the IPL. That could change in 2026.

Ravindra averages 24.29 with the bat in the IPL and strikes at 143.90. Delhi, Lucknow, and Rajasthan should be considering a move for the New Zealand star.

Honourable mentions: Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Devon Conway, Mustafizur Rahman, Will O’Rourke, Kyle Jamieson, Josh Inglis, Maheesh Theeksanka, Jonny Bairstow, Faf du Plessis.
