How Long Does a 40 Over Match Last?

A 40-over match will usually last between six and seven hours at the professional level. Like with T20s, matches can be shorter if fewer than 80 overs are bowled, and the duration can increase with weather delays and injuries. 

Some 40-over matches will be concluded inside four or five hours, but with the slow pace of play in professional matches, it usually takes around three hours for each inning.

What’s the 3-Minute Rule in Cricket?

The three-minute rule is the maximum amount of time it should take the next batter to be ready to face a delivery after the previous batter was dismissed.

This decreases to two minutes in one-day internationals and Test matches. The fielding team can appeal, and the batter can be dismissed timed out if they are not ready in time.
