Right off the bat, I’ll tell you that my best bet for this game isn’t even available yet: the Kansas State moneyline.
At 3.5 points, I’m quite hesitant, especially on a neutral field in Ireland.
That said, Kansas State will get the win here.
Last season, Iowa State had several high-level NFL-calibre players, including wide receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel. They also had a monstrous cornerback in Darien Porter.
Now, Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht has a group of receivers consisting of Daniel Jackson, Chase Sowell, and Xavier Townsend to throw to.
Sowell could be a solid deep-threat player, averaging nearly 20 yards per catch last season, but he also did that with East Carolina.
Townsend caught 10 passes in four games with UCF, and in 2023, he caught 33 passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games.
Both quarterbacks in this game can run, though.
Becht threw for 3,505 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 2024 while adding 318 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
Kansas State signal-caller Avery Johnson had 2,712 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also ran for 605 yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 46.5 rushing yards per game.
The Wildcats added three new offensive linemen, including Brandon Sneh, Amos Talalele, and George Fitzpatrick.
I think losing those receiving threats for Iowa State will ultimately prove to be too much, and Kansas State gets a narrow win, 27-24.
