How Many Bowl Games Are There This Year?
At the conclusion of the 2024-25 college football regular season, there will be 36 bowl games in addition to the 12-team College Football Playoff. The first bowl game will be played on Dec. 14, and the last non-College Football Playoff bowl will be played on Jan. 4.
The final “official” bowl game is played during the College Football Playoff. It’s the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, played on Jan. 10 to determine one of the two teams competing in the CFP National Championship on Jan. 20, which should make for some compelling college football betting opportunities.

Strangest Bowl Game Names in College Football History
Over the years, numerous bowl games have been played with various sponsors, and as a result, we’ve seen some head-scratching and cackle-inducing names.
Below, I’ll list some I can recall, including some from the 2024-25 slate.
While crafting the list above, I scoured the 2024-25 list of bowl games and thought, “These names are fairly straightforward.”
Then, I stumbled across the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl. I just never expected Snoop Dogg to sponsor a bowl game. This one occurs on Dec. 28, where eight bowl games are played. This is the busiest day, games-wise, during bowl season.
Snoop Dogg has announced that the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl will be the first to provide NIL deals for all players.
