  • Ohio State (+500) is tied atop the odds after bringing in three four-star transfers, including tight end Max Kalre.
  • Texas (+500) is tied with Ohio State after restocking its defensive line with three notable transfers, including Hero Kanu from Ohio State.
  • Georgia (+650) lost quarterback Carson Beck and edge rusher Damon Wilson II but brought in wide receivers Zachariah Branch and Noah Thomas.

The 2024 college football season is long in the rearview, and the Ohio State Buckeyes will look to defend their national championship crown.

Heading into 2025, they’re tied atop the football odds with a notable SEC program they beat to advance to the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Below, I’ll analyze the top five teams’ odds of winning the college football national championship using odds at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

Prediction: Who Will Win the 2025 College Football National Championship?

Ohio State has the best odds of winning the 2025 college football national championship at +500, followed by:

  • Texas (+500)
  • Georgia (+650)
  • Oregon (+750)
  • Penn State (+900)

I predict the Texas Longhorns will win the 2025 national championship.

Next season, they’ll have Arch Manning under center, who showed plenty of promise in 2024 in Quinn Ewers’ absence.

They lost several defensive linemen to the NFL Draft but restocked it with Cole Brevard, Travis Shaw, and Hero Kanu.

College Football National Championship Predictions & Best Bets

Ohio State Buckeyes National Championship Odds +500

The Buckeyes are tied atop the college football national championship odds at +500.

They won the 2024 national championship, but looking ahead to 2025, they’ll be without many key components.

They’re losing Emeka Egbuka, Josh Simmons, Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau, Will Howard, Donovan Jackson, Tyleik Williams, TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, and more to the 2025 NFL Draft.

That said, players like Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate will be back.

They also added tight end Max Klare, a transfer from Purdue.

With Howard headed to the NFL, next up under center appears to be Julian Sayin, a former five-star recruit.

Texas Longhorns National Championship Odds +500

Tied atop the odds are the Longhorns, with Manning under center in 2025.

In limited action this season, Manning completed 61 of 90 passes (67.8%) for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions.

He also added production as a runner, scampering 25 times for 108 yards and four touchdowns.

They’re losing Kelvin Banks Jr., Matthew Golden, Jaydon Blue, Isaiah Bond, Vernon Broughton, Gunnar Helm, Andrew Mukuba, and more to the NFL Draft, but they’ve added some talent via the transfer portal.

The list includes three defensive linemen: Cole Brevard (Purdue), Travis Shaw (North Carolina), and Hero Kanu (Ohio State).

They also brought in linebacker Brad Spence (Arkansas).

Georgia Bulldogs Irish National Championship Odds +650

The Bulldogs had a lacklustre run in the College Football Playoff thanks in part to their starting quarterback, Carson Beck, getting injured in the SEC championship and missing their only playoff game, a loss to Notre Dame.

Beck has transferred to Miami, and Georgia is moving forward with former backup Gunner Stockton.

He’s a dual-threat player but left much to be desired in limited action last season.

To be fair, he was asked to come in cold in the SEC championship, and his first start was in a College Football Playoff game against a feisty Notre Dame defence.

In addition to Beck, they lost Damon Wilson II to the transfer portal (Missouri), but they’ve added two excellent receivers for Stockton: Zachariah Branch (USC) and Noah Thomas (Texas A&M).

Oregon Ducks National Championship Odds +750

After losing to the eventual national champions in their first game in the College Football Playoff, the Ducks will enter their second season in the Big Ten.

With Dillon Gabriel headed to the NFL, it appears the Ducks will start Dante Moore next season.

Josh Conerly, Jordan James, Tez Johnson, and more are off to the NFL, but they’ve added talent to help replace them.

The massive list of additions includes offensive tackle Isaiah World (Nevada), safety Dillon Thieneman (Purdue), offensive lineman Emmanuel Pregnon (USC), defensive lineman Bear Alexander (USC), wide receiver Malik Benson (Florida State), offensive tackle Alex Harkey (Texas State), running back Makhi Hughes (Tulane), tight end Jamar Johnson (Louisville), and cornerback Theran Johnson (Northwestern).

Penn State Nittany Lions National Championship Odds +900

The Nittany Lions were one game away from playing for a national championship but lost to Notre Dame 27-24 in the Orange Bowl.

The team has lost blue-chip players like Tyler Warren and Abdul Carter, but yes, QB Drew Allar will be back next season.

More good news: Running backs Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen will also return.

They’ll be a strong contender as Allar tries to shake off the memory of throwing an interception late in the fourth quarter against Notre Dame.

Notable additions from the transfer portal include wide receiver Kyron Hudson (USC), safety King Mack (Alabama), offensive lineman TJ Shanahan (Texas A&M), wide receiver Devonte Ross (Troy), and edge rusher Enai White (Texas A&M).
