Western Kentucky Hilltoppers All-Time Greatest Football Players
1. Brandon Doughty
Doughty played quarterback for Western Kentucky from 2011 to 2015.
He threw for 12,855 yards (first in program history) and 111 touchdowns (first). He totalled 12,570 yards (first) and 114 touchdowns (first).
He won the Sammy Baugh Trophy in 2014 (top passer), was the Conference USA MVP twice, first and second-team All-Conference USA, and led the FBS in passing yards twice (2014 and 2015).
2. Willie Taggart
Taggart was a dual-threat quarterback for Western Kentucky from 1995 to 1998.
He threw 30 touchdowns (tied for ninth), ran for 3,997 yards (third), and had 47 rushing touchdowns (first).
He finished his career with 7,223 yards (fourth) and 77 touchdowns (third).
He was an All-American and was the I-AA Independents’ Offensive Player of the Year in 1998.
The Hilltoppers retired his No. 1 jersey.
3. Jimmy Feix
Feix played quarterback for Western Kentucky from 1949 to 1952.
He threw for 3,780 yards (10th) and 30 touchdowns (tied for ninth).
Feix was a Little All-American (1952), led them to a win in the Refrigerator Bowl, and his No. 66 was retired by the school.
Feix was the first star at Western Kentucky. He led the nation in completion percentage in 1952 (63.1%).
4. Bobby Rainey
Rainey played running back for the Hilltoppers from 2008 to 2011.
He ran for 4,542 yards (first) and 35 touchdowns (fifth).
He was a second-team All-American, Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year (2010 and 2011), and first and second-team All-Sun Belt.
5. Antonio Andrews
Andrews was the running back for Western Kentucky from 2010 to 2013.
He ran for 3,674 yards (fifth) and 29 touchdowns (sixth).
He holds the single-game rushing touchdown record with five in 2013 against Morgan State.
Andrews also holds the top two single-season rushing yardage records, headlined by 1,730 in 2013.
He was the Sun Belt Player of the Year (2013), Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year (2013) and was first-team All-Sun Belt twice.
