South Florida Bulls All-Time Greatest Football Players

1. Quinton Flowers

Flowers was the quarterback for South Florida from 2014 to 2017. 

He threw for 8,130 yards (fourth in program history) and holds the record for the second-most passing yards in a single season with 2,911 in 2017. 

That said, he does hold the single-game passing mark with 503 in 2017 against UCF. 

Flowers also threw for 71 touchdowns (first), ran for 3,672 yards (first), and added 41 rushing scores (first). 

He was a true dual-threat quarterback who was named the CFPA National Performer of the Year, the AAC Player of the Year, and was a two-time Birmingham Bowl MVP, first-team All-AAC, and second-team All-AAC. 

2. George Selvie

Selvie played defensive end for South Florida alongside Grothe from 2006 to 2009. 

He recorded 29 sacks (first) and holds the single-season record with 14.5 in 2007. 

He was a consensus All-American, first-team All-American, Big East Defensive Player of the Year, two-time first-team All-Big East, second-team All-Big East, and won the Bill Willis Trophy (top defensive lineman). 

3. Marlon Mack

Mack was a running back for South Florida from 2014 to 2016. 

He was the AAC Rookie of the Year and three-time first-team All-AAC. 

He ran for 3,609 yards (second) and 32 touchdowns (second). 

Mack’s 3,609 total yards and 32 total touchdowns rank eighth and sixth, respectively, in program history. 

4. Matt Grothe

Grothe was South Florida’s signal-caller from 2006 to 2009. 

He threw for 8,669 yards (second) and 52 touchdowns (tied for third). He’s tied with Flowers for the second-most passing yards in a single season with 2,911. 

Grothe added 2,206 rushing yards (sixth) and 23 rushing touchdowns (fifth). 

He was the Big East Rookie of the Year. 

5. Marquel Blackwell

Another quarterback, Blackwell played for South Florida from 1999 to 2002. 

He threw for 9,108 yards (first) and 67 touchdowns (second). 

He added 20 rushing touchdowns (seventh).
