  • Taylor Heinicke holds several Old Dominion records, including passing yards, passing touchdowns, total yards, and total touchdowns.
  • Ray Lawry holds ODU records in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.
  • Jason Henderson was a first-team All-American in 2023.

The Old Dominion Monarchs were a football program from 1930 to 1940, but went on a long hiatus due to poor attendance, financial struggles, and, simply put, poor play on the field.

The team came back in 2009, joining the FCS.

In 2014, they joined the FBS and played in Conference USA. Now, they’re in the Sun Belt Conference.
