Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns All-Time Greatest Football Players
1. Tyrell Fenroy
Fenroy played running back for the Ragin’ Cajuns from 2005 to 2008.
He ran for 4,646 yards (most in program history). He also holds the single-season rushing record with 1,375 yards in 2008 and the single-game mark with 297 yards in 2008.
Fenroy also ran for 48 touchdowns (first) and is tied for the single-season record with 19.
He was the Sun Belt Player of the Year (2008), Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, three-time first-team All-Sun Belt, and second-team All-Sun Belt.
2. Brian Mitchell
Mitchell was a true dual-threat quarterback for Louisiana from 1986 to 1989.
He threw for 5,447 yards (fifth), ran for 3,335 yards (fourth), and had 47 rushing touchdowns (second).
He’s tied with Fenroy for the single-season rushing touchdown record. He is second in the single-season rushing yard department with 1,311.
Mitchell was a first-team All-Louisiana honoree twice and was named the 1989 Offensive Player of the Year for the state.
3. Levi Lewis
Lewis played for Louisiana from 2017 to 2021 as a quarterback.
He threw for 9,302 yards (second) and holds the single-season passing yardage record with 3,050, set in 2019.
He also threw for 74 touchdowns (first) and holds the single-season record with 26 (also came in 2019).
He was the Sun Belt championship MVP (2021), a two-time second-team All-Sun Belt, and was named the MVP of the Lending Tree Bowl in 2020 and the New Orleans Bowl in 2021.
4. Brandon Stokley
Stokley played wide receiver for Louisiana from 1998 to 1998.
He’s the program’s leader in receptions (241), receiving yards (3,702), and receiving touchdowns (25).
He holds the top three single-season records in receptions and receiving yards, headlined by 81 catches in 1996 and 1,173 receiving yards in 1998.
He was the first player in FBS history to average 100 receiving yards per game over four years.
5. Orlando Thomas
Thomas played defensive back for the Cajuns from 1991 to 1994.
He finished his career with 18 interceptions (third) and 347 tackles (second).
Thomas was a first and third-team All-American, the Big West Defensive Player of the Year (1993 and 1994), and two-time first-team All-Big West.
