Eastern Michigan Eagles All-Time Greatest Football Players
1. Maxx Crosby
Crosby was with Eastern Michigan from 2015 to 2018 but didn’t record any stats until 2016, as he redshirted in 2015.
As a redshirt freshman, he had just 1.5 sacks. Over his final two seasons before leaving for the NFL, he recorded 18.5 sacks.
His 20 sacks are tied for the second in program history, trailing Jose Ramirez by just 0.5.
His 11 sacks in 2017 are tied for the second in a single season.
Crosby was a two-time first-team All-MAC.
Fun fact: In April, he was named the assistant general manager for the program, making him the first active NFL player to have such a role.
2. Ron Adams
Adams was the quarterback for the Eagles from 1984 to 1987.
While there, he was first-team All-MAC, second-team All-MAC, and led the Eagles to the MAC conference title.
Later, he was enshrined in the Eastern Michigan Hall of Fame.
Over his career, he threw for 4,757 yards (sixth) and 26 touchdowns (ninth). He also accumulated 5,259 total yards (sixth) and 32 total touchdowns (10th).
3. Charlie Batch
Batch was also a quarterback from the Eagles, suiting up from 1994 to 1997.
He threw for 7,592 yards (third). He holds the top two single-season records with 3,280 in 1997 and 3,177 in 1995.
He also tossed 53 touchdowns (second) and racked up 7,715 total yards (third).
Batch was first-team All-MAC in 1995.
4. Walter Church
Church was also the Eagles’ quarterback. He played for the school from 1996 to 2000.
He threw for 9,142 yards (first) and had 43 passing touchdowns (third).
Church also ranks second in total yards with 8,628 and sixth in total touchdowns with 46.
5. Andy Schmitt
Coming in at No. 5 is Schmitt, who also played quarterback. He was at Eastern Michigan from 2006 to 2009.
He threw for 5,867 yards (fourth) and had 33 passing touchdowns (tied for sixth). Schmitt was a dual threat to some degree, rushing for 16 additional scores (10th).
He’s fifth in total yards (6,745) and tied for third in total touchdowns (49).
