1. Charlie Frye
Frye played for Akron from 2000 to 2004.
As their quarterback, he threw for 11,049 yards (most in program history) and 64 touchdowns (first).
In 2003, he threw for 3,549 yards, a single-season record.
Over his career, he had 11,478 total yards (first) and 83 total touchdowns (first).
He won the Vern Smith Leadership Award (top MAC player) and was second-team All-MAC.
2. Mike Clark
Clark played running back at Akron from 1984 to 1986.
He ran for 4,257 yards (first), including 1,786 yards in 1986 (first).
Clark holds three of the top eight single-season rushing yard records.
In addition to 1,786 in 1986, he ran for 1,299 in 1985 and 1,172 in 1984.
3. Jason Taylor
Taylor played for Akron from 1993 to 1996.
He had 21 sacks (first), including 10 in 1996 (tied for second).
He was two-time first-team All-MAC.
In 1996, he earned National Defensive Player of the Week honours after posting 12 tackles, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, three tackles for loss, and a tackle resulting in a safety against Virginia Tech.
He’s inducted into the Akron Ring of Honour.
4. Dwight Smith
Smith played defensive back for Akron, racking up 15 interceptions (second), including 10 in 2000.
Playing for Akron from 1997 to 2000, he was a consensus All-American and the MAC Defensive Player of the Year.
He was also a finalist for the Thorpe Award.
5. Jabari Arthur
Arthur played wide receiver for Akron from 2004 to 2007.
He caught 184 passes (first) for 2,653 yards (first) and 17 touchdowns (third).
Additionally, he holds the single-game receiving yards record with 223 in 2007, the single-game receptions record with 15 in 2007 against Western Michigan, and the single-season receptions record with 86 in 2007.
