  • Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up, which ultimately caused the postponement of the match.
  • Tyson is the +275 betting underdog, while Paul is the -275 betting favourite.

The highly anticipated return of former unified heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was postponed from its initial date on July 20 to Nov. 15 inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The former heavyweight champion suffered an ulcer flare-up, ultimately pushing back the fight.

Tyson’s return will see him try to defy the boxing odds. Due to the massive age gap, he’s the betting underdog heading into the match, while Paul is the favourite. This massive boxing event also allows live sports betting for two generations of fight fans.

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: Prediction

Paul’s youth and athleticism can power him over Tyson, and my prediction is a unanimous decision for Paul. Similar to previous opponents when he drained them in the later rounds and dominated them with vicious combinations, Paul could do the same to Tyson.

The tale of the tape between Tyson and Paul favours the latter because he is 3 inches taller, has 5 inches of reach, and is 30 years younger. Youth is undoubtedly on Paul’s side, but the experience is with Tyson, who had an illustrious career before hanging up the gloves in 2005.

Another advantage Paul will have is his activity inside the ring. He’s been competing for the last four years, so ring rust will not be an issue. On the other hand, that would be another disadvantage for Tyson since he needs to shake off almost two decades of inactivity.

Although Tyson fought Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match in November 2020, it’s not enough to get back in the groove and in-ring peak form.

One key factor to consider is Iron Mike’s fitness level. While he still carries incredible power in his punches when landed cleanly, his cardio and gas tank might be compromised, adding an element of uncertainty.

Father time has caught up with Tyson at 57. The key for him is to start early and pressure Paul. This strategy will give him the maximum chance of beating his younger opponent, especially when he lands a clean shot.

On the contrary, Paul should drag Tyson into the late rounds to tire the former champ and deplete his power. He must avoid the forward pressure and contain the aggressiveness his opponent is expected to bring. As the fight progresses, his chances of winning increase.

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: Best Prop Bets

Both Fighters Getting Knocked Down (+400)

Tyson may have aged significantly heading into this match, but he’s still got that power in his hands. During his career, he’s had an 88% finish rate.

Although he failed to score a knockdown against fellow boxing great Roy Jones Jr. in their exhibition match in 2020, Tyson went for it several times during the match.

Expect him to go all out with Paul, especially in the match’s opening phase, to get an early head start.

On the other hand, Paul also has decent power in his hands and has proven this during his boxing fights.

He’s dropped Anderson Silva, Tommy Fury, Nate Diaz, and Mike Perry, who were significantly younger than Tyson.

If he fights smart, he can let Tyson get tired in the latter stages of the bout and go all-in his attack to try and drop him down the canvas.

Fight Going Full 8 Rounds (+150)

Although both have great power, and we may see knockdowns throughout the match, I still see this fight going the full eight rounds.

Tyson’s cardio may be in question, but he showed that he could still last a full fight during that exhibition with Jones Jr.

Meanwhile, Paul has been in great shape because of his activity inside the ring, fighting veteran MMA fighters and fellow YouTubers.

Jake Paul by Unanimous Decision (+450)

Paul has been a master of scoring decision wins against heavy-punching opponents.

This was witnessed during his fights with former UFC fighters Tyron Woodley, Diaz, and Silva, who were known to be a solid puncher.

He knows how to turn up and when to avoid offensive onslaughts, and if he does this with Tyson, he’ll get another unanimous nod from the judges.

Mike Tyson Recent Fight Results

Tyson hasn’t fought in a professional setting for almost two decades. His last bout was in June 2005, when he fought Kevin McBride. He was ahead in that match but decided to retire in the sixth round to concede defeat because he didn’t have the same fire and desire to compete. That was his sixth career loss.

Before that, he was a former WBC, WBA, and IBF world heavyweight champion who defeated other great heavyweight greats like Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks, Frank Bruno, Marvis Frazier, James Smith, and Trevor Berbick. He scored 44 knockouts out of his 50 wins. These wins also added to Mike Tyson’s net worth.

Jake Paul Recent Fight Results

Paul is a social media personality who transitioned to competing in the boxing ring. He made his pro debut in January 2020, fighting YouTuber Ali Erson Gib and winning by TKO in the first round. Most of his opponents were fellow YouTubers and veteran MMA fighters.

Since then, he has appeared in nine more boxing fights.

Among those fights, he only dropped one against Tommy Furry in February 2023 via a split decision. Paul’s victories were against Nate Robinson, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley (twice), Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, Andre August, and most recently, Ryan Bourland.
